How America has managed to allow itself to be disarmed and dissheveled as a result of global trade may be one of the important mysteries of any future attempt to explain an America that once was for historians. Wealth disparity is much more than turning toward a pretty face while flirting with disaster; it is the wholesale neglect and aversion to logic and principles that has always lain at the bedrock and root of democracy – which is now thrown out like yesterday’s trash.

If Constitutional efficacy still exists, it does so with nearly perfect distortion so that it is unrecognizable enough to dismantle it with increasing ease, and ease of conscience.
That is the outcome of the recent debt debate in Congress, and between Obama and Boehner. It is difficult enough to ignore the Constitution, but to use it as excuse for its distortion is unthinkable, and undeniably un-American.

Kudos to you for being one of those who claim to know something about search marketing while their actions clearly serve as evidence to the contrary.

And I’m glad I can make you laugh. Some see my ability to be funny as some sort of skill, but the fact is that being able to find humor in the face of unrelenting absurdity is the only thing that keeps me sane – relatively speaking, anyway.

Seeing children at tea party protests, anti-abortion rallies and assemblies railing against gay marriage, standing along side their parents – filled with hate for those who are different and animus toward anyone with a contrasting perspective – fills me with great anguish, but also pity.

Those parents scream in alleged defense of their rights while simultaneously fighting to subjugate the rights of others. What will happen to those children? Will their souls be forever tainted? Will it become their lot in life to only recognize what makes us different and spread hate like a cancer to generation after generation?

My heart aches for those children. Willful ignorance is an abomination. Brainwashing future generations, teaching them to perpetuate that philistinism, is a crime against all humanity. But the criminals alone aren’t sentenced for those crimes…we all are.

Yes, apathy is another part of what I feel lately, which I also find disturbing. I know there are other people out there, like you, who care about the same issues I do. We’re the ones who try to change the system with our votes, with letters to our representatives, and with well written pieces such as this. Unfortunately, it’s the crazies who strap on poorly spelled sandwich boards and drag their kids out to tea parties and protests who seem to have the most success of being heard. It saddens me, and yes, frightens me.

My cynicism is beginning to give way to apathy, which is both appalling and dangerous. I’m frighteningly infuriated by the lack of outrage. I find it disconcerting that this nation is filled with so many ignorants. It is despicable that such obvious and purposeful destruction of our democracy can be publicly supported, defended and even applauded by members of Congress while people scream “Hell, yeah…free speech!”, grab a six pack from the fridge & head out to corporate-sponsored faux grassroots tea party protests with loaded 9mm handguns strapped to their thighs.

Sometimes I wish I were a simpleton…

It’s getting to the point where it’s difficult for me to be appalled at actions like this anymore, which I find even more appalling. True cynicism is an ugly thing. I fear our country has simply grown too large for the infrastructure it depends upon. Too many people pulling in too many directions, and not enough smart people in charge. It’s disheartening.

People are sheep and very few were smart enough to be able to read between the lines even when the lines still existed. This decision does away with those lines altogether and the Supreme Court has not only defended these despicable tactics, they have condoned, endorsed and encouraged them.

Remember that private island I’ve been talking about moving to? I wasn’t joking about that. I’m one lottery jackpot away from turning my back on the whole kit-n-kaboodle without a single regret or moment of hesitation. I’ve had enough.

“Grass roots” this past year are a good example – none of the teabagger events started at a true grass-roots level. All were conceived, promoted by and paid for by corporate interests. Corporate interests killed the Gold Standard how long ago? Interest rates over 20% used to be illegal, usurious. Some now reach 60,70 and even 80%, on top of “processing fees”. Privacy rights were lost with Bush/Cheney.

So I don’t think the Supreme Court’s decision was such a monumental change in the devolution of our country. Just another nail in the coffin.
