I’m working to organize a class action lawsuit on behalf of current & former tenants of MiddleTown Property Group. If you know anyone who’s been wronged by them or want to donate to the legal fund, please visit MiddleTownPropertyGroupSucks.com.
MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com Christmas Nightmare
Picture it… Christmas Day… 2022. A middle-aged woman diligently toils in the kitchen throughout the afternoon, preparing a Christmas feast for herself and her elderly, legally-blind, partially-disabled, widow-of-a-disabled-Vietnam-Veteran mother.
That middle-aged woman was me.
For those of you who don’t have the time to invest in reading all this (and who does, really?!?), here’s the CliffsNotes version:
December 24th, 5:24 pm: Unit several doors down from ours suffers a leak, partially floods the hallway. There was no indication that our unit was in any jeopardy of flooding. Emergency maintenance number called.
December 25th, 5:00 pm (approximately): Our apartment begins to flood. By the time maintenance arrives, half our unit was flooded and the water had begun to breach my towel dams & infiltrate the living room and two bedrooms, which are all carpeted.
December 25th, 6:00 pm through December 28th, 2:30 pm: From the time the flood was discovered to the time we vacated the building, all my time was spent addressing the water infiltration and remedying the situation (i.e. going WAY above & beyond what is legally required of a tenant to mitigate the damage to a property owner’s structure). I did far more to mitigate the damage to MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com’s property than anyone associated with that company has. I guess it’s true that no good deed goes unpunished.
December 31st, 5:30 pm (approximately): After being informed by the front desk clerk of the hotel that MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com had sent them an email stating the building was fixed and everything was fine, I walked down to our apartment building, which is only about a mile from the hotel. Some residents had returned. I walked down the hall to find that MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com had changed the lock on our door. We were not informed.
I have not spoken to anyone from MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com since December 29th at 11:44 am. I have called over and over and over again over the course of days. I have left message after message after message over the course of days. Not a single attempt has been made to reach me or my mother. Not a phone call. Not an email. Not a message delivered by carrier pigeon. Zip. Zilch. NADA.
We were told when we left the apartment that we’d be out for 2-3 days while they remedied the situation. My mother brought 7 days worth of medication with her. Tomorrow (Tuesday, January 3rd) is day 7. MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com never informed us that our lock would be changed or why it needed to be changed. We have received no communication from them whatsoever. My mother’s critical medications are now locked behind a door that we cannot open.
Fun Fact: MiddleTown Property Group/BSURentals.com stopped paying for the hotel room after the second night. We have been paying for it ourselves since. January 3rd will mark our 7th night in this room.
